Quit by Heart

Quit vaping

How to quit vaping when the device never leaves your pocket

Vaping removed every natural stopping point that smoking had. No pack to finish, no smell, no reason to step outside. Quit by Heart is built for the craving that shows up in the middle of a meeting — and shuts it down in thirty seconds, drug‑free.

Why quitting vaping is its own problem

Most quit advice was written for cigarettes. A lot of it transfers. Some of it does not — and the parts that do not are usually the parts that matter when you are actually trying to stop.

A cigarette

  • Ends when it ends. The cigarette finishes itself.
  • You have to go somewhere to smoke it.
  • Other people can smell it.
  • You count in cigarettes, so you know your number.

A vape

  • Has no end point. One puff and one hundred look identical.
  • Works anywhere you can sneak a puff, in bed, a bathroom, mid‑conversation.
  • Leaves nothing behind to notice.
  • You have no number, so you cannot tell when it crept up.

That is the real difficulty. Vaping is not harder to quit because it grips harder. It is harder to quit because it never makes you stop, so the habit never has to argue with anything. Many devices also use nicotine salts, which make a higher concentration comfortable to inhale — so the grazing is on a stronger supply than most people assume.

The craving is the part we fix first

Every quit attempt dies in the same way: the urge arrives, you have no tool, you reach for the device. Willpower is a bad answer because it asks you to do nothing, and doing nothing is the hardest possible response to a craving.

The Craving Kill Switch gives you something to do instead. It is a thirty‑second, drug‑free protocol you run the moment an urge hits — no patch, no gum, no prescription, nothing to carry. It is the core of the FAST & For Good Method™, and it is the first thing you learn.

Nothing here is a medicine and nothing here replaces advice from a clinician. If you use nicotine replacement or a prescription, Quit by Heart is designed to work alongside it — see the FAQ.

What else gets in the way

You have no idea how much you use

With cigarettes the number is obvious. With a vape it is invisible, which means your sense of your own habit is probably wrong. Knowing the real shape of it is where a plan starts — that is what tailored strategy is for.

The hand-to-mouth habit outlives the nicotine

You can be through withdrawal and still reach for a device that is not there. That reach is a learned loop, and it needs rewiring rather than resisting. See internal transformation.

Hunger that is not hunger

Quitting nicotine can read as appetite, which is how weight gain starts and how quits get abandoned. Telling the two apart is a skill, and we teach it in quitting essentials.

Self-sabotage, in both directions

It creeps in when quitting goes badly — and, strangely, when it goes well. We are the only ones who help you catch both kinds early. See pushing through.

Does it work if I vape rather than smoke?

Yes. Our FAST & For Good Method™ targets nicotine, cravings, thoughts, emotions and the habit loop — not the delivery device. It is built for every kind of nicotine use: cigarettes, vapes, pouches, snus and chew. If you switched from cigarettes to vaping and never got the rest of the way, that is one of the most common situations we built this for.

It is also drug‑free by design, which matters more for vaping than people expect: a lot of vapers are reluctant to treat a nicotine problem by buying more nicotine.

Built on evidence, not vibes

The tools come from peer‑reviewed behaviour science — if‑then planning, mental contrasting, and brief activity to break an urge. We publish what sits behind each one on The Science, including where the evidence is strong and where it is still thin.
